Welcome to our first In Person All Sites Meeting. Our goal is to bring together collaborative dependency courts from across the state. Thank you for joining us October 19th, 2023 at the Doubletree Suites by Hilton located in Tukwila, WA We have activities planned from 1pm to 8pm!

On your table
You may have noticed that on your tables, we have provided some coloring sheets, puzzles, and materials to doodle with. For many people, keeping focused requires a little bit of dual attention – focus on the speaker and on a fidget, doodle, or craft at the same time. For people who have difficulty with small talk, who tend to be shy, who are introverted, or aren’t sure how they belong, having something to occupy themselves can reduce anxiety and promote increased self regulation while in a stimulating environment.
We hope that everyone feels welcome in our meeting and offer these as opportunities to use or not at your preference!

Active Community Teams
Katie Anderson, who leads our Early Childhood Courts Team at AOC, shared information about creating Active Community Teams. These teams are very similar to the executive teams recommended by FTC Best Practices and provide a venue for the ICWA Court Standards recommended Tribal Stakeholder Collaboration. Collecting Data and Making Changes
A drop of analysis is one of the best tools we have for determining specific timepoints in a case where we are losing possible participants and have larger disparities in our outcomes. April Kraft-Duley developed the materials below about a drop off analysis. Jen Nguyen presented the information. Our whole team is prepared to help your court bring int he data you need to make this happen for your court to pinpoint a specific area for change. The powerpoint slides are below. We have set up a website (which will be updated with more information and examples) to give you an idea about codes and how they can be used.
Innovation in times of Low Engagement
Following these presentations, Meghan Fitzgerald, FTC Training coordinator, led us in discussing next steps, making future plans, and hopefully encouraging our teams to get excited about taking another step on the path towards changing our practices. Those slides are below. Some of the most exciting things to come from those conversations: a idea to partner directly with adult drug court and build a hybrid model between ADC and FTC. Working to develop a “shelter care track” and an innovative way to work on earlier cases. Working on a mandatory hybrid track for cases that are high needs, but who’s parents are not excited about fully investing in a FTC or ECC.
