Early Childhood Courts (ECC) focus intensely on removing barriers to racial equity and social justice in achieving safety and permanence for infants and toddlers in fair and timely manner. Being able to track and display court-level enrollment data is an important step in the pursuit of equity, and is a part of a continuous quality improvement (CQI) process. FYJP has created the Enrollment Monitoring Tool for use by courts to easily display their ECC’s breakdown of child race demographics, and compare those to representation of infants and toddlers in the regular dependency system and the larger geographic region.
The Enrollment Monitoring Tool allows tracking site-level ECC enrollment by race/ethnicity relative to court-level regular dependency numbers and county-level infant and toddler population by race/ethnicity. The numbers can be updated by the courts as needed. ECCs that have access can use the iDTR can update their statistics quarterly, and updates from data in the Zero-to-Three database can be use as often as needed. Population data are available at the WA Office of Financial Management (OFM), Forecasting and Research Division. The tool presented here is a template and any numbers are presented as an example.
Using the Tool
To update simply just insert your ECC’s number into the respective highlighted fields and watch as the percentage and the bar charts update automatically! You can copy-and-paste the graphs and charts into external documents or save the entire document as a report.
