Lactation and Substance Use: New Guidelines Training

South Sound Lactation is putting on a virtual presentation regarding lactation and substance use.
The presentation will cover weighing risks and benefits of infant feeding methods in the context of substance use, overview of guidelines, example cases and communication practice. It will also briefly review evidence summaries for MOUDs, opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants, nicotine, alcohol, and cannabis use during lactation, focused primarily on infant health impacts and monitoring.
There will be a Q & A session after the presentation and the webinar will be recorded.
Certificates of completion will be emailed after completing a short online quiz.

Natalie Franz, MPH, is a Maternal and Child Health Data Communications Consultant at the Washington State Department of Health. At DOH, Natalie leads the development of clinical guidelines on lactation and substance use. She also leads efforts to improve how DOH shares maternal child health data. Her diverse work experience ranges from mental health crisis stabilization to perinatal mental health research to program evaluation. Natalie is interested in first relationships as a basis for health and well-being, developmental trauma prevention, and promoting patient voice & choice.
