Regional High Potency Synthetic Opioid (HPSO) Safety Symposium
November 14 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
FreeClark, Cowlitz, Pacific, Wahkaikum, Lewis, Mason, and Gray Harbor Summit
This symposium is the result of a collaboration between the Department of Health, the Washington Association of Child Advocate Programs, DCYF, the Administrative Office of the Courts and many other child welfare system partners. This training is designed to better understand the potency and potential lethality of HPSOs and how we can keep service providers, caregivers, families, and children safe when HPSO are present and are being actively used with a heavy focus on ensuring that we all keep everyone safe. We plan on doing a number of similar trainings across the state between now and the first part of next year as well.
The morning will feature presentations by the Department of Health on the current science around what we know about HPSOs, substance use disorder professionals about treatment and recovery process and brief presentations from lived experts, legal professionals and others in the child welfare system.
In the afternoon, we will engage in facilitated conversations about how we can all keep each other safe within our respective roles, discuss scenarios where there is active use of HPSOs and build safety and case plans that will keep children, caregivers and families safe based on the information from the morning sessions.
There will be no cost to attend (but donations will be appreciated!) and lunch will be provided. We’re also working on providing CLEs and CJEs for this session as well, and we hope to have child care options available as well.
