In October of 2021, new SCOMIS and Odyssey codes were approved for use statewide, to identify Family Treatment Court (FTC) and Early Childhood Court (ECC) cases. Since then, the FYJP team has been working with court staff to implement the codes in court reports and to backdate the codes for counties that are able to do so.
Why These Codes Are Important
The FTC and ECC codes help us determine if a case in the iDTR (Interactive Dependency Timeliness Report) is in one of these programs. If the codes are not entered in by the court clerk, than the iDTR will show that you are serving fewer families than the local county data says you are serving. It is very important that the iDTR data reflect accurately the families you are serving because without accurate state data it is difficult to:
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the program
- Improve the program
- Share the impact with the legislature
- And this will impact future policies and future funding for the FTC program.
The numbers for the state level data are generated through the use of a code when a family enters the FTC/FRC program or the ECC/SBC program (Effective Date 1/1/22)
HOW YOU CAN HELP!
- Talk with your AAGs and Court Clerks to ensure that everyone is on the same page.
- Frequently check the iDTR or work with your FJCIP coordinator to assess whether the iDTR numbers reflect what is happening in your program.
- Make sure if a family withdraws from the program, that that information is up-to-date as well.
- Check your form and become familiar with it – here is an example.
Court Codes
Early Childhood Court (ECC) Codes
ATCECC - Accepted Therapeutic Court Early Childhood Court
This code should be used when a parent enters the Early Childhood Court program.
CTCECC - Completed Therapeutic Court Early Childhood Court
This code should be used when the parent successfully completes the Early Childhood Court program. The definition of “successful” is if the parent completes the program requirements and graduates.
FTCECC - Failed Therapeutic Court Early Childhood Court
This code is if the team decides to discharge a parent from the ECC program pre-graduation.
WTCECC - Withdrew Therapeutic Court From Early Childhood Court
This code is if the parent decides to discharge from the program pre-graduation. This includes parents whose dependency dismissed prior to graduation and thus did not complete the full ECC program.
Family Treatment Court (FTC) Codes
ATCFTC - Accepted Therapeutic Court Family Treatment Court
This code should be used when a parent enters the Family Treatment Court program
CTCFTC - Completed Therapeutic Court Family Treatment Court
This code should be used when the parent successfully completes the Family Treatment Court program. The definition of “successful” is if the parent completes the program requirements and graduates.
FTCFTC - Failed Therapeutic Court Family Treatment Court
This code is if the team decides to discharge a parent from the program pre-graduation.
WTCFTC - Withdrew Therapeutic Court Family Treatment Court
This code is if the parent decides to discharge from the program pre-graduation. This includes parents whose dependency dismissed prior to graduation and thus did not complete the full FTC program.
