Topic Areas: Trauma-Informed Practice

Transform stress into strength while supporting families navigating the court system. Through the lens of the Hulk’s iconic transformation, this session examines the effects of toxic stress on the brain and nervous system and how professionals can help families regain balance using self-regulation strategies rooted in Polyvagal Theory. The Hulk’s transformation parallels the human stress response, illustrating how overwhelming emotions and behaviors emerge when the nervous system shifts into survival modes such as fight, flight, or freeze.

Attendees will gain insights into identifying the stressors families face and learn how to support them in activating their “social engagement system” to foster calm, connection, and resilience. Practical strategies will be shared to help families “tame the Hulk” within by promoting constructive responses to stress. The session will also include hands-on exploration of tools designed to build self-regulation skills for all ages, featuring innovative resources like HeartMath, MindFlex, and Purrble. Join us to deepen your understanding of the nervous system, empower families, and build skills that promote healing and well-being of children.
